Telescope

Meade's LX90 10" (254mm) telescope with a focal length of 2500mm (XX") is the first full-capability, computer-controlled 10" Schmidt-Cassegrain ever offered in its price range. Featuring solid state electronics, diffraction-limited optics and ultra-precise GO TO technology, it is easy to use for visual applications, including the more advanced areas of astronomy such as long-exposure CCD-imaging and astrophotography.

The all-glass corrector lenses and mirrors are individually figured to create a superior optical system that is renowned for its exquisite smoothness and performance. Pyrex® Primary Mirror Premium-grade Pyrex mirrors are used in all Schmidt-Cassegrain optical systems, providing exceptional thermal stability. Meade's Ultra-High Transmission Coating (UHTC) increases light transmission by roughly 20% when averaged over the entire visible spectrum, resulting in even brighter images.

Meade's patented Level-North Technology (LNT) means you simply turn the telescope on and it automatically points to the first alignment star. The SmartFinder(TM) and 8x50 viewfinder let you quickly and easily locate and center deep-sky objects. The included AutoStarSuite(TM) Astronomer's Edition Software is an easy-to-use planetarium software that allows you to see what's in the sky, plan observing sessions, print star charts and control y our scope--all from your PC. The double-tine fork mount has ball bearings on both axes and dual-axis 4.9" worm gears that permit smooth sidereal-rate tracking of celestial objects as well as precise guiding corrections during long-exposure imaging.
